Isolated Islands

Pearl Island boa constrictors are native to the island of Sabogae and are natural dwarves – rarely reaching 5 feet as fully grown adults. Island animals tend to evolve to be much smaller than their mainland cousins due to space and resource restrictions. Where there is less food, having a smaller body to feed is more advantageous.

Pearl Island boas have a unique ability to change color in an almost chameleonlike fashion, going from a ghostly, pearly white to a deep, almost black brown depending on mood and temperature. They are highly iridescent and their hypomelanistic, vanishing pattern bodies make them easily distinguishable from other boa constrictors. They also have slimmer bodies than most boas due to their semi-arboreal nature.
